~~~~~
Before I Fall is interesting from page one, it starts off good and it gets right to the point. It begins with a prologue. You don't have to read half the book before it gets interesting, like you have to do with some books. That's a plus for me. There are some parts though, that make the book a little boring because Samantha is reliving that same day over and over. Everything doesn't happen the same way, of course not. The same parts do happen over and over, but not quite. I quickly regained interest as I got a little farther into the book, and then I started getting to the better parts.
As Samantha keeps reliving her last day over, I think she seems to get smarter about the decisions she makes. What I  mean is, she starts thinking about making better decisions about her life. Her friends, her popularity, her boyfriend. (I couldn't stand her boyfriend!) This book makes you about about life in general. How short it is, how precious it can be, and how it could end in a split second. There are a few parts in this book that I found funny, so this isn't a book that just talks about death all the time. It's also about the opposite of death: Life. And love.
I had a love-hate thing with the characters. At one point, I hated them. I hated Sam. I'm sure the author wanted me to hate them. At another point in the book though, I loved them, not all of them, but a few of them.
Overall, I have to say it was a good book. I can't say I loved it because then I would be lying. I didn't really like the ending, I didn't like how things turned out. But still, on your next trip to the bookstore, you should at least consider picking up this book from the shelf. You won't be disappointed.
★★★☆☆
I give this book 3 stars.
